Who we are

Manchester Central Masjid is the data controller for the information described here. We are based in Manchester, GB. To reach us about anything on this page, write to imam@manchester-central-masjid.faithops.app.

What we collect

If you visit this website. Standard server logs — your IP address, browser and the pages you requested — kept to keep the site running and secure. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

If you give. Your name, email address, amount and any message you attach. Card and bank details are entered on our payment provider's own page and are never sent to, seen by, or stored on our systems. We keep a record of the gift because we are required to account for it.

If you are a member. Contact details, household relationships, attendance, giving history, group and ministry involvement, and any pastoral notes staff record. Some of this is sensitive — it can reveal your religious beliefs, and where you tell us, health or family circumstances. We hold it to care for you as part of this community.

If you use our app. Device identifier and push token so we can send the notifications you turn on; your saved bookmarks and reading progress; questions you ask the assistant.

Why we may hold this

Because you asked us to (a gift, a booking, a notification you switched on), because it is necessary to run a religious organization and care for its members, or because the law requires us to keep financial records. Where we rely on your consent you may withdraw it at any time.

Who else sees it

• Our payment provider, to take a gift and to reconcile it.
• Our messaging providers, to send the emails and messages you have
• Our hosting provider, which stores the database on our behalf.
• The assistant's AI provider, if you use it. Your question and the
• Authorities, where we are legally obliged.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with other organizations for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Financial records for as long as the law where we operate requires. Member records for as long as you are part of this community and a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs for a short period. Pastoral notes only as long as they serve the care they were written for.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to imam@manchester-central-masjid.faithops.app and we will respond. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Where we hold information about children, we do so with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, and only for children's ministry, safeguarding and contact in an emergency.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date on this page.
